The Scope 5 executive team is well equipped to support our customers, partners, vision and business objectives. Our leadership’s collective experience includes senior management roles in product management, engineering, marketing, business development and business operations at companies ranging from corporate (Microsoft, Intel, Disney, Bell Labs) to more than 30 early-stage technology start-ups.
Yoram Bernet: CEO, co-founder
Yoram is responsible for the overall vision and growth of Scope 5. He also oversees product development, delivery and support. During his 8-year tenure at Microsoft Yoram led the company’s Internet quality of service efforts. Prior to Microsoft Yoram spent 10 years at AT&T and Bell Labs as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff. He has published a book on QoS in the Internet, as well as numerous technology articles and white papers. He has spoken at many technology forums, and holds dozens of patents. Yoram has been a member of Social Venture Partners, serving on the Environmental Grant Committee. After earning a BSBME (electrical engineering biomedical engineering) at Case Western University, Yoram attended graduate school at Northwestern University (electrical engineering).
Susan Fairchild: Manager, Sales and Marketing
Susan Fairchild is responsible for leading the company’s sales and marketing strategies. Susan brings diverse experiences in business, philanthropy, and nonprofit to Scope 5. As the former Program Director at Social Ventures Partners (SVP), Susan helped community and business leaders maximize their potential for creating positive change. She led the environmental grant committees and environmental advocacy and policy committee, which led to many mutually beneficial partnerships. Susan is the current Chair of the Board of Trustees at the World Affairs Council. She has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington – Evans School of Public Affairs.
David Billstrom: Board Member
David is an active advisor to Scope 5, drawing on his experience as an entrepreneur, founder, venture capitalist and Fortune 100 corporate executive (Intel, Disney). He has invested in, advised, founded, and/or served on the board of directors for more than 24 companies. David began his career in software and supercomputers, transitioned into CD-ROM publishing and search engines, and has acquired both success and bruises from early market introductions of innovative products in a host of industries. David is also active in public safety as an instructor and a first responder.
John Daly: Board Member, co-founder
John led the business development and marketing efforts for Scope 5 from market need conception through initial momentum and validation to growth phase. He has 15 years of experience building early-stage technology companies. John is presently building early momentum for a global initiative as VP Partner Development at Dashwire, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HTC. He was a co-founder responsible for business strategy, partnerships, marketing and initial sales at Junxion, the early market leader in smart cellular routers (mobile hotspots) acquired by Sierra Wireless. Since 2004 John has been a voluntary school program founder and team leader with Inner City Outings, a Sierra Club outreach program that introduces urban youth to the natural outdoors. John earned his BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Brian was an executive at Microsoft who dove into clean tech when he left MS after a 22-year career, in 2010. He is on the board of Northwest Energy Angels, a Senior Advisor for the Boston Consulting Group in their Technology, Media, and Telecom practice, and an advisor to a growing number of startups and NGOs.
Suzanne Keel-Eckmann is a newly retired Firm Director from the consulting firm Deloitte, where she was National Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability. During her 14+ years at Deloitte, she also served as Northwest Regional Operations leader and National Director of Workplace Service Strategies and led the Deloitte Services Women’s Initiative. Prior to joining Deloitte, she held positions as a non-profit executive, law firm administrator, and owner of her own business.
Suzanne attended the University of Alabama and Golden Gate University and continued her education with a Green Belt in Process Excellence and certification as a LEED Accredited Professional. She is a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Washington and serves on the UW Foster Net Impact Advisory Council.
A technical advisor to Scope 5, Wolf saw the challenge of climate change in 2005 and formed a consulting practice that is focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and best environmental management practices. He has been a Technical Assessor for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) since they piloted their GHG Validation/Verification body accreditation service in 2008. Additionally, Wolf performs a variety of other auditing and assessment functions, helping organizations meet their sustainability goals.
Jameson is a consultant for CH2M HILL where he applies his expertise in strategic energy and resource management, as well as related development and technology. Prior to CH2M HILL, Jameson had an international career as an executive with DHL, where he spearheaded the company’s energy performance and related information management efforts. Under his leadership, DHL developed web-enabled applications for carbon, greenhouse gas (GHG), and energy data collection for visibility, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
Michael Rawding is Founding Principal of Deerhorn Advisors, a boutique consultancy focused on cross-border strategy and sustainability technology. He is also a member of the Northwest Energy Angels, a group that invests in early stage clean-tech companies. Prior to founding Deerhorn, Rawding spent more than 16 years with Microsoft where he held a variety of senior management roles. While at Microsoft he helped formulate the company’s environmental sustainability strategy.
